The Arrival
"Where am I?" Marth wonders to himself. He finds himself in a high tech city, technology he had never seen before or even heard of. "Last thing I remember was grabbing the Fire Emblem in that cave... and now I am here..." Marth looks around at the strange new surrounding he has found himself in. "Where is everyone? Did they not come along as well... and where are they right now?" Marth starts to call out for any signs of life that may be found in this weird new setting he has found himself in... with no clue as to where, or when, he is.

Unknown to Marth, a small group of Spartan scouts was combing the streets and buildings of that same city. So far they had found things, things that not even the Great King Leonidas could understand. The unsettling thing, even for the hardened Spartan hoplites, was that there was no one alive anywhere they looked.

One of the Spartans, Cadmus, had climbed to the top of a tall spire, likely a church to some unknown deity in another world. He was the first to spot Marth's appearance and signaled to the other five in staccato Greek. He remained in the tower as the others approached the newcomer from both sides.

"Who are you, stranger?" called one of the Spartans. It was strange, he spoke Greek, but the words that reached Marth's ears were in perfect Altean.
altea_mikoto on July 4th, 2007 08:24 pm (UTC)
Marth looked around as he is surrounded by the stange men. He kept one hand on his sheathed Falchion, in case things got ugly.
"My name is Marth Lowell, I am the crowned prince of the land of Altea... who are you people, to surround one lone man with 6 men? It hardly seems like a fair confrontation." Marth stated as he tried his best to keep an eye on every corner of the area, in case they decided to get hostile and attack. He did not know what these strange new people were intending to do, whether they be friend or foe, but Marth was not about to drop his guard, not with his kingdom still at risk and he be the only hope remaining for it.
the_lost_300 on July 4th, 2007 08:36 pm (UTC)
"We are the Spartans," said the lead hoplite. "My name is Dorian; I lead this scouting party. We are here on orders from King Leonidas himself to investigate this," Dorian paused, indicating the tall glass-and-metal buildings that surrounded them, "place, for it is but newly in existence and we know not of it."

"You would do well to forget thoughts of violence, Marth, prince of Altea. We Spartans do not seek to harm you unless we are first provoked. Tell me, how did you come to be here?" Dorian asked, resting the butt of his spear on the ground. The other Spartans quickly followed suit. Their posture relaxed slightly, but they were all still watching Marth intently behind their featureless helmets.
altea_mikoto on July 4th, 2007 08:42 pm (UTC)
Marth nodded at the gesture of putting the spear butts on the ground and he took his hand off of Falchion and gave a bow of his head.

"I apologize for my abrupt behavior, I do not wish to fight unless I must... I was in a cave out in a neighboring country of Altea searching for the legendary artifact the Fire Emblem, which is now embedded into my sword Falchion. But once I grabbed the Fire Emblem, everything went black... and once I awoke, I found myself in this city of great wonder and mystery." Marth stated as he stayed where he was, being careful not to make the Spartans feel provoked in anyway.

Marth then looked at Dorian "How did you and your troops come to be at this place, Sir Dorian? You obviously are new to this place as well for need of a scouting party."
the_lost_300 on July 4th, 2007 08:57 pm (UTC)
"We do not know. The last act any of us remember from the world we left was the defense of the pass of Thermopylae against the Persians. We are unsure how long we have been here, as Apollo, or whoever pulls that chariot in this place, does not make the same path across the sky as we are accustomed to, though it has been more than a year by our best reckoning. This place where we now stand, however, is new. Two days ago we awoke to find these towers had been erected overnight."

Dorian waved held up his hand and signaled to his fellow Spartans. Three of the group that surrounded Marth broke off and resumed their search of the city. The two remaining Spartans were still on opposite sides of the intersection where Marth stood.

"Where is your homeland, Marth of Altea? From the name I would guess that you come from the lands north of Macedonia, though I do not recognize your style of dress."
altea_mikoto on July 4th, 2007 09:07 pm (UTC)
Marth nodded his head. "Yes... Altea does lie north of the ancient city of Macedonia. My garb marks Altean royalty and my shoulder plates mark me of nobility." Marth stated as he stretched out his arms to show Dorian his garb.

"Your style of dress strikes me as odd Sir Dorian. I am not accustomed to other styles of garb or battle armor outside of that of my homeland." Marth said as he looked over Dorian's armor.

Marth looked around and then looked back to Dorian. "Sir Dorian, I do not mean to burden you, but have you seen my comrades anywhere around here? One is a girl named Sheeda and she rides on a pegasus, and the other is an Altean knight named Jeigan. Surely your troops would have spotted them if they were around here would they not?"
the_lost_300 on July 4th, 2007 09:24 pm (UTC)
"We are Spartans, our king is a descendant of the great Heracles himself. To speak of myself, I am a hoplite commander. The L on my aspis," he said, motioning to the large Lambda painted on his round shield, "stands for Lacedaemonia, my home state."

Dorian shook his head, a gesture emphasized by his long braids and the large crest on his helm. "We have not, you are the first man we have seen other than our own people. Are they dressed as you are?"
altea_mikoto on July 4th, 2007 09:29 pm (UTC)
Marth tilted his head down "Oh... I see. They are in the same atire as me yes. Sheeda has long blue hair and rides upon her pegasus. And Jeigan is a knight who rides upon horseback and has long grey hair."

Marth stepped forward towards Dorian. "Sir Dorian, I must ask you to take me to your leader, Sir Leonidas... I must converse with him about this place... and see if there is a way for us to return to our home worlds." Marth got down on one knee with his head bowed to Dorian as a gesture of respect.
the_lost_300 on July 4th, 2007 09:37 pm (UTC)
Dorian nodded. "We are nearing the end of our current search, but if you will wait until we are finished, we will escort you to our King. It will not be much longer. Until then, rise and be at ease."

The Spartan looked up, shielding his eyes against the sun. "Spartans!" he called, pitching his voice higher to carry as farther. "Finish your searches quickly, we return home soon!"
altea_mikoto on July 4th, 2007 09:40 pm (UTC)
Marth smiled with a glimmer of hope in his eyes. He stood up and walked up next to Dorian. "So what exactly have your men found out about this place Sir Dorian?" He said looking around at the tall buildings.

the_lost_300 on July 4th, 2007 09:52 pm (UTC)
"Precious little. None of our people have seen anything like it before, nor do we know of the gods worshiped here. The language is strange, I have several documents to bring back to our scholars to decipher," he said, withdrawing several sheets of paper from a leather tube. He handed one to Marth. the text was written in English. "Perhaps you have seen writing like this? It resembles our own, though the differences in wording make it impossible to be read."
altea_mikoto on July 4th, 2007 10:08 pm (UTC)
Marth looked at the paper and saw some similarities to his Altean language as well, he turned to Dorian "It is very similar to the Altean native tongue as well... but there are also differences, enough to where I cannot understand what it says." He said as he handed the paper back to Dorian.

the_lost_300 on July 4th, 2007 10:16 pm (UTC)
Dorian nodded, rolling the paper up and returning it to his document tube. "I expected as much."

The other Spartans returned one at a time. Cadmus, the hoplite who first spotted Marth returned last as he had been at the top of one of the larger towers.

"Spartans," Dorian said, "form up around Prince Marth, we are escorting him to our King. Let us return home."

The Spartans formed a hexagon around Marth and began to walk once he was ready. They did not march, but their unified military pace was anything but leisurely. The hoplites held their spears upright, non threatening but ready to be used.

"Our city is three miles away, I hope your stamina is up to the task, Marth of Altea," Dorian said.
altea_mikoto on July 4th, 2007 10:21 pm (UTC)
Marth walked along with the Spartans, feeling protected by the hexagon of soldiers around him.

Marth looked at Dorian after his statement, "I am sure I will do well Sir Dorian. I may be royalty, but I have treked on foot more than most nobles." Marth said with a slight chuckle and a sense of relaxation in his voice.

Rachel walked out of a cross-street and saw a group of men walk by. She had no idea where she was and all she knew was that she was heading to Barthis to see Gregory Deegan. Dejah, Dominic's friendly slim mold, was supposed to send her straight there but he missed apparently. Luckily he didn't slime her this time. Rachel walked up to the group of men and tapped one of the strangely dressed soldiers. "Hi, do you know where we are?" she asked.
the_lost_300 on July 6th, 2007 12:40 am (UTC)
((And now need a posting order. Hmm... Spartans, Marth, Rachel.))

In an instant, the Spartans had gone from a relaxed marching posture to battle guard. The two on the far side of the hexagon leveled their spears while the other four instinctively drew their swords. Curse this strange city and it's hidden alleyways; the Spartans should have been more careful.

Dorian stood impassive behind his bronze helm. His sword, unlike the swords of the other hoplites was pointed lower, less threatening, but still easily whipped up and into an offender's bowels. "Why don't you tell us who you are first?"

One of the other Spartans, the one who had remained with Dorian when they first met Marth, leaned closer to the Altean prince. "Do you know her?" he asked.
altea_mikoto on July 6th, 2007 01:07 am (UTC)
Marth all of a sudden looked around in a panic to see what the Spartans had gotten all defensive about. He spotted Rachel as the Spartan asked his question. Confused still as to what had just happened, Marth stammered "N..No... I do not... She is as much a stranger to me as she is to you." He replied while looking at the stranger, curious as to if she meant to do them harm or was a friend.

Marth moved forward in front of the Spartans "Please... lower your weapons... I do not believe she is here to do us harm." He asked the Spartans as he looked towards Rachel. "Please, miss... Tell us who you are and what you are doing here... We mean you no harm as long as you mean us no harm."
facesmash on July 6th, 2007 02:06 am (UTC)
Rachel started to step back when she saw the outer guard went on the defensive. However she remembered herself and stood her ground when both men asked her to explain herself. "My name is Rachel Heart and I have no idea what I'm doing here. I mean none of you all any harm and I am unarmed. I was traveling via slime mold teleport to my friend in order to give him a make- over." Her eyes squinted from the glint of the sun on the spears and swords. She ran her hand through her hair and looked at the men she was facing "Now that you all know me why don't I find out what you all know."
the_lost_300 on July 6th, 2007 02:37 am (UTC)
"We are Spartans," the leader said. "My name is Dorian. The man we are escorting is Prince Marth of Altea. Slime Mold... tele-port? I am afraid I do not understand what you mean. Explain yourself."

Despite his brusque questioning, Dorian motioned the other Spartans to rest their spears on their shoulders. As before, they were still alert, only not in an actively threatening stance.
altea_mikoto on July 6th, 2007 02:50 am (UTC)
Marth gave a slight smile once the Spartans calmed down, and then turned to Rachel with a bow of his head. "As Sir Dorian said, I am Prince Marth of Altea... as of my knowledge of this place... I know not of this world or even how I came to be here."

"I, too, am curious as to what you speak of... I have not heard of such things before, even in the books I read back in Altea. Do you mind telling us about it?"

facesmash on July 6th, 2007 04:21 pm (UTC)
Rachel relaxed as she saw the Spartans lower their spears. "I honestly don't know how it works but Dominic swears by it. A slime mold is a creature that is made of slime, are huge. as well as rather stupid. Dejah is special because he is little and he can talk. To travel by him he eats you and then you're at your destination. Usually he's very good at pinpointing the location and sliming his passenger."

She looked at the Prince and Dorian "Where did you all say you were from because I have never heard of Al-tea nor about Spartans?"
the_lost_300 on July 7th, 2007 01:17 am (UTC)
"We are from the kingdom of Sparta, one of the southernmost Greek kingdoms. I, personally, am from Lacedaemonia, the largest of the Spartan states. However," Dorian paused and indicated the city they now stood on the outskirts of and the bare dirt beyond. "This is not Sparta, nor, as Prince Marth can tell you, is it Altea. We do not know where we are."
altea_mikoto on July 7th, 2007 01:22 am (UTC)
Marth nodded to Dorian's statement. "Yes... as Sir Dorian said, my kingdom is called Altea which lies north of the kingdom of Macedonia, and this be no where near my kingdom. I know not what this place is... but perhaps we all could help each other figure something out..." Marth said looking over towards Dorian in hopes that he would allow her to travel with them.

"What do you say Sir Dorian... she is apparently as lost as we are in this world... and we could use all the help we can get in this unknown region to us all."
facesmash on July 7th, 2007 11:13 pm (UTC)
Rachel looked around in a little bit of wonder at the strange landscape around her.

"I don't know where either place you both named are nor have I ever even heard of the places. Even though none of us seem to know the other I would far prefer to stay with you all if thats acceptable then travel alone. Who knows maybe you boys will let me give you all makeovers because those skirts just don't scream masculinity to me."

She grinned rather wistfully as she spoke. "I only wish I had my wardrobe with me becasue you, Sir Dorian would look lovely in my buttless chaps."
the_lost_300 on July 9th, 2007 06:15 pm (UTC)
Dorian nodded to Marth, "indeed," he said, "strange things have been happening of late. Perhaps it is best to bring you both to our king."

Several of the Spartans chuckled at Rachel's comments. "Would you prefer us to leave ourselves exposed?" one of them asked, barely holding back laughter.

Dorian raised an eyebrow. "Buttless chaps? I am afraid I do not know what you speak of."
altea_mikoto on July 10th, 2007 03:15 am (UTC)
Marth nodded to Dorian's comment. "Yes, I do think that a meeting with your king is called for since we now know more people are here besides us."

Marth looked confused at Rachel's statement "Buttless chaps? What exactly is this strange contraption you speak of Miss Rachel?"
facesmash on July 10th, 2007 02:45 pm (UTC)
"Well.....Im not really sure how to describe them. They are not unlike the pants you are wearing M'lord however there is no cloesing on the front of the pants nor is there a seat in the pants. They are ment to go over other pants but I love the freedom they give me." Rachel, trying desperatly to explain what chaps were to men that had never heard of cowboys, added worriedly "I hope that makes since."
the_lost_300 on July 18th, 2007 03:02 am (UTC)
Dorian nodded to Marth. "Yes, I believe King Leonidas will be interested. We have seen many strange wild beasts, but no other humans," he said, then turned to Rachel. "I see. I mistook the Prince's, pants," he struggled briefly with the unfamiliar word, "for a form of armor."

Motioning to the other Spartans to take up formation around Rachel as well, he added, "let us be off."
altea_mikoto on July 18th, 2007 03:14 am (UTC)
Marth tilted his head in confusion to the description Rachel had given them. "I am afraid I do not understand what you speak of Miss Rachel nor do I wish for my garments to be cut into any form other than that of what they are now... but there will be much to discuss once we reach Sir Leonidas."

Marth nodded to Dorian's statement. "Yes indeed, let us be off to Sir Leonidas in hopes that we can help one another get back to our homes." Marth stated as he saw the Spartans surround him and Rachel. "Do not worry Miss Rachel, the Spartans will protect us while we journey to Sir Leonidas" Marth stated with a reassuring smile.
facesmash on July 18th, 2007 03:30 am (UTC)
Rachel grinned at Marth. "Don't worry I'll leave your pants alone and I am glad for the protection. Not that I can't take care of myself but it's more fun to go in a group. I hope to show you, some time, my own type of fighting without any weapons and perhaps you all could show me your's."

She turned to Dorian and added "Lead the way so we may follow to meet your king. If anything it should prove amuseing."
clouded_mind7 on July 18th, 2007 12:10 pm (UTC)
In front of the group on the ground lay an unconscious figure, clearly injured.
the_lost_300 on July 20th, 2007 02:33 am (UTC)
((Posting order from here of Cloud, Spartans, Marth, Rachel?))

Having left the city with their two new guests, the small band of Spartans was headed back to their own city. The last thing they expected, although recent experiences have pointed out the fact that there's nothing they really should not expect here, was to find yet another strange person.

The group stopped in the middle of the field, a good distance away from Cloud's unconscious body.

"Hello?" Dorian called, not expecting an answer, but still looking for some sort of response to tell him that this newest arrival was not dead.
altea_mikoto on July 20th, 2007 11:17 am (UTC)
Marth nodded to Rachel "Yes, I am greatly interested in your fighting style Miss Rachel and will await a demostration of it"

Marth noticed the Spartans had stopped and he walked up next to Dorian. "Sir Dorian, what is the problem? Is something wrong?" Marth then looked ahead and saw Cloud's body and he gasped. "Is... is he alive? Should we not go and help him?"
clouded_mind7 on July 22nd, 2007 03:30 pm (UTC)
Upon closer inspection, it could be seen that the figure was still breathing, though very shallowly and with difficultly. He had cuts and bruises all over his body, as well as some singe marks on his clothes and arms. Beside him lay an over-sized sword that was nearly as long as he was. There were two colored spheres embedded in the sword just above the hilt.
facesmash on August 6th, 2007 08:40 pm (UTC)
"I'll be sure to demonstrate for you soon." Rachel replied but realized that the Spartans had stopped and that Marth was not paying any attention to her. She looked around to see what was going on. "Oh my God, is that man okay?" She asked quickly realizeing that the unconsious man was breathing but his attire and sword were unlike anything she had seen before. "Sir Dorian, do you or Sir Marth know this man? His sword and cloths are unknown to me."
the_lost_300 on August 7th, 2007 02:02 am (UTC)
Dorian shook his head. "He is another stranger. Adrian, go check on him."

The other Spartan saluted, handed his long spear and heavy shield off to a nearby comrade, and trotted forward. He kept his helmet on, preferring the protection to any fright the bronze visage may bring about. His sword hand stayed near the hilt of his lakonia as he reached out with the other to check if the fallen figure had a pulse.
altea_mikoto on August 7th, 2007 02:08 am (UTC)
Marth shook his head to Rachel. "I know not of this man Miss Rachel... His presence is as a mystery to me as it is to you and Sir Dorian." Marth spoke as he watched the Spartan walk towards the body, keeping his hand on the hilt of Falchion in case something unexpected happened.
clouded_mind7 on August 7th, 2007 02:44 am (UTC)
The figure's breathing was shallow, punctuated with an occasional groan or whimper of pain. Otherwise, he was unmoving.
facesmash on August 7th, 2007 04:39 pm (UTC)
Rachel watched in anticipation as the Spartan moved toward the prone man. "Shall we risk keeping him with us, at least until we know if he will hurt us or not?" She asked wonderingly.
the_lost_300 on August 8th, 2007 07:40 am (UTC)
The Spartan, Adrian, sent to inspect the body stood up. "He lives, though I do not know for how long. Darius, carry his weapon."

The other Spartan nodded, handing off his shield and advanced. He helped Adrian remove the buster sword from Cloud's back and hefted the massive blade onto his shoulder. Adrian rolled Cloud onto his side and lifted him up, laying him across both the Spartan's shoulders.

As the returned to the group, the others changed formation to better protect Adrian and the fallen Cloud.

"We march," Dorian announced, and the other Spartans followed his lead.
altea_mikoto on August 8th, 2007 07:46 am (UTC)
"I do not know whether he means us harm or not Miss Rachel, but what I do know is that he does need help." Marth said as the spartans were coming back with Cloud.

Marth watched the spartans bring Cloud back to the group with an awe look on his face as he saw the giant Buster Sword.

Marth nodded to Dorian and continued to march with them again. "Sir Dorian, what are we gonna do with the man once we reach your king, if I may impose. What is to be his fate?" Marth asked with a little concern for the man in his voice.
facesmash on August 20th, 2007 06:34 pm (UTC)
Rachel watched as they brought the unconscious man back to the group.

"I agree that he needs help and in his present state he isn't a threat to us. Hopefully we will reach Sir Dorian's camp without any more suprises and we will be able to find some answers." She said as they began their walk.

Rachel noticed the giant sword that Sir Darius was carrying and rubbed her eyes to make sure she wasn't seeing things.
the_lost_300 on August 21st, 2007 07:12 am (UTC)
Dorian nodded to Marth and Rachel in turn. "We will tend to his wounds, and then question him when he is able to speak. He will be cared for."

The group reaches the top of a large hill in their march, and suddenly Sparta was visible before them. The buildings where nestled against the base of a cliff and on both sides of a small river. The buildings were all Greek in design, though the bridges spanning the river had an almost Venetian feel to them.

They were still about a mile out from the city.
altea_mikoto on August 22nd, 2007 03:31 am (UTC)
Marth nodded to Dorian with a content smile on his face. Marth eyed the giant sword that the strange character had with him and looked in awe of how gigantic it is. Surely it would take 3 people to pick up the thing, but the man seems to be have been wielding it by himself. Marth wondered to himself, "If this man can wield such a massive weapon like that by himself, he could prove to be a great ally... but... he may also prove a great foe if he is indeed that."

Marth gazed over the landscape that is Sparta in awe, he had never seen such architecture before in his life. "Sir Dorian... your city is of very interesting architecture. I do marvel in the beauty of it."
facesmash on August 22nd, 2007 07:25 pm (UTC)
Rachel nodded to Marths comment on the strangers loyalty and was glad to hear the Spartans were not barbians. She stared at the site before her. "Wow how on earth did your entire city get sent here I wonder. Marth and I were brought here by bungled transportation spells but a whole city is hard to do." She wondered aloud to herself.

"Well Gentalmen shall we see what the future holds?" She asked as she linked arms with Sir Marth and Sir Dorian.
the_lost_300 on August 23rd, 2007 04:48 am (UTC)
"That is not the original Sparta, it is a city we have built in the time since we arrived." Dorian said, then looked down at Rachel as she slid her arm around his. "Indeed," was his only reply, though he make no move to free his arm.

As they neared the city, Dorian motioned for the two Spartans carrying Cloud's belongings to take him to the doctors. "If you wish to meet with our King, he will see you shortly. If not, consider yourselves guests of Sparta."
altea_mikoto on August 23rd, 2007 02:47 pm (UTC)
Marth looked over to Rachel rather uneasily when she locked arms with him. He had not been used to this kind of behavior, especially since he has been surrounded by noblemen and women his entire life. But he did nothing to stop her as they walked down together to the "new" Sparta.

Marth nodded to Dorian. "I do wish to speak to Sir Leonidas as soon as possible. I do believe we need to figure out what we are to do before we have any kind of relaxation time, do you not agree Miss Rachel?" He turned to Rachel, hoping to get her consent on the decision.
facesmash on August 25th, 2007 04:27 am (UTC)
"I completly agree." Rachel added. "Let us meet with your king and see what is needed to be done."

"How long have you been here Sir Dorian? The reason I ask is because this is a very elaborate city and obviously took time and care to recreate. I would also love to see how you train your warriors if possible after meeting the King." She asked rather rapidly. She looped her arms again into Marth and Dorians arms and they began to walk toward the city.
